A healthy vision start begins in the first year of life.
At TruNorth Optometry, we’re proud to offer InfantSEE® eye exams—a no-cost, comprehensive eye and vision assessment for infants between 6 and 12 months of age.
InfantSEE® is a public health program developed by the American Optometric Association to ensure babies get an early start on healthy vision and eye development. Even though your baby can’t read an eye chart, their eyes and visual system are developing rapidly during the first year of life—and early problems can often go unnoticed without a professional exam.
An InfantSEE® exam is a gentle, thorough eye health and vision evaluation designed specifically for infants. During the visit, we assess:
Eye health and overall eye structure
Eye alignment and coordination
Focusing ability
Early signs of vision problems or eye conditions
Visual development milestones
The exam is safe, comfortable, and tailored to your baby’s age and stage of development. No reading, no “which is better, one or two?”—just simple, effective ways to make sure your child’s eyes are developing properly.
Many vision or eye health issues don’t have obvious symptoms in babies, but early detection is key. Identifying concerns early can:
Support normal visual development
Reduce the risk of long-term vision problems
Catch eye health issues before they become more serious
Give parents peace of mind
Even if everything looks normal, an InfantSEE® exam establishes a healthy baseline for your child’s vision and eye health.
InfantSEE® exams for infants 6–12 months old
A calm, baby-friendly exam environment
One-on-one time with your doctor to answer questions
Guidance on visual development and what to watch for as your child grows
Referrals or follow-up care if anything unusual is found
The InfantSEE® exam is provided at no cost as part of the national program.
Your baby’s first eye exam is an important milestone. We’d be honored to help guide their vision and eye health from the very beginning.
